    Abu-Ghazaleh Patronizes Lecture on ‘Doing Business in Post Conflict Conditions’

    AMMAN – Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum held an interactive session in cooperation with SPARK entitled ‘Doing Business in Post Conflict Conditions’ under the patronage of HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh.

    'Doing Business in Post Conflict Conditions' is a chain of lectures delivered by pioneer businessmen and women who started their businesses in post conflict conditions. The lectures aim at empowering and preparing male and female entrepreneurs to start their businesses in Syria to support efforts in the reconstruction of Syria.

    Ms. Judith Vollebregt, Country Representative Jordan, SPARK, provided participants with a brief presentation about SPARK’s mission and extended her gratitude to Dr. Abu Ghazaleh for his generous patronage and for hosting the lecture.

    Meanwhile, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh praised the efforts exerted by SPARK worldwide in providing qualification to young refugees from conflict areas by supporting them with their startup businesses and encouraging them to return to their home countries to contribute to the reconstruction and prosperity of their societies.

    Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh underlined the significance of providing support to Syrian refugees and displaced people inside and outside Syria in order to prepare them for entering the labor market upon their return home. He made reference to Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization’s own project that it implements  in cooperation with the European Union, which offers English language training to Syrian refugees at the Zaatari Refugee Camp and enables them to continue their higher education through online learning with internationally recognized universities and academic institutions.

    To illustrate the aim of the lecture series which is to introduce SPARK projects and motivate youth and entrepreneurs, particularly amongst refugees,  Mr. Mirwais Momand, CEO of MIDO Dairy – Afghanistan  presented his success story about a young self-made man who created a job opportunity for himself despite living as a refugee, and became the founder and CEO of a factory with the support of SPARK.

    SPARK is an independent, non-profit international development organization, established in 1994 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. SPARK has extensive experience in working in post-conflict regions; it offers access to higher education and supports entrepreneurship development in fragile states so that young, ambitious people can lead their societies into stability and prosperity
