    Talal Abu-Ghazaleh - Confucius Institute celebrates Chinese New Year and the Spring Festival

    AMMAN - Under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, the Chinese Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, His Excellency Mr. Pan Weifang, and HRH princesses Reem Ali and Talal Abu Ghazaleh- Confucius Institute, held a special ceremony to celebrate the Chinese New Year and the Spring Festival at Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum.

    The Celebration was attended by their Excellencies Ambassador of Portugal and First Secretary of the Embassy of Czech Republic in Jordan, students of the Institute and their parents, Chinese community members residing in Jordan, and Jordanian citizens in addition to TAG-Confucius management and staff.
     
    The ceremony commenced with the playing of the national anthems of the People's Republic of China and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. This was followed by the opening speech, delivered by His Excellency the Chinese Ambassador, in which he underlined the depth of Chinese-Jordanian relations and highlighted the significant role played by Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Confucius Institute in nurturing this connection.

    For his part, H.E Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh expressed his appreciation for the Chinese Embassy's continuous support for the Institute’s activities and events highlighting the everlasting-close relations between Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) and the Embassy. 
     
    During the ceremony, students and teachers of the Institute gave a magnificent performance portraying  Chinese heritage including songs, poetry, and a demonstration of the Chinese ‘Taiji' a spiritual and physical activity which is widely practiced by the Chinese people.

    Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Confucius Institute was established in September 2008 to identify Chinese language and culture and achieve a mutual understanding between Arabic and Chinese cultures according to the Memorandum of Cooperation signed between TAG-Org and TAG Confucius Institute in China.
